Mayer To Headline Save The Music Event

Grammy winner John Mayer will headline VH1 Save the Music Foundation's 10-year celebration of helping to restore music education programs in U.S. schools.
The 10th anniversary event Sept. 20 in New York also will feature a 50-member orchestra made up of students from schools nationwide that received Save the Music grants, VH1 said in a news release.
Tim Gunn of Bravo's "Project Runway" will emcee a live auction, featuring items from Save The Music Foundation partners.
During the event, foundation leaders also will recognize NAMM, the International Music Products Association, an organization that has supported the Save The Music Foundation since its inception in 1997. Recently, Save The Music Foundation paired with NAMM to donate $200,000 worth of new musical instruments to public schools affected by hurricanes Katrina and Rita. NAMM began as the National Association of Music Merchants, but now just uses the acronym.
